Board Certifications in Security

ASIS International has set the standards for certification in security for 35 years. Certification plays an important role in the security industry by identifying high professional standards. As an indicator of qualifications, certification is documented evidence of expertise and experience. It is an objective means of distinguishing highly competent security practitioners from their less experienced peers.

ASIS administers the following certification programs:

Certified Protection Professional (CPP®) – The CPP certification is recognized as the worldwide standard for professional competency in all areas of security management.

Professional Certified Investigator (PCI®) – The PCI certification indicates demonstrated education and/or experience in the fields of case management, evidence collection, and case presentation.

Associate Protection Professional (APP)
The Associate Protection Professional (APP) designation provides the first "rung" on the security professional’s career ladder. It is for those with 1 or more years of compensated security experience and measures the professional’s knowledge of security fundamentals, business operations, risk management, and response management.

Physical Security Professional (PSP®) – The PSP certification validates experience in physical security assessment, the application, design and integration of physical security systems, and implementation of physical security measures.
